Edwin Mortimer Hopkins
Dr. Edwin Mortimer "E. M." Hopkins (1862 – June 13, 1946) was a university professor and American football coach. He served on the faculty at the University of Kansas from 1891 to 1937. Hopkins graduated from Princeton University in 1888 with a bachelor's degree in English and earned a master's degree the following year. He returned to Princeton to complete his PhD in 1894.[1] Hopkins was the head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks football team for a single season in 1891, tallying a mark of 6–1–1. Hopkins died on June 13, 1946 in Lawrence, Kansas at the age of 83. He was married to Madeleine May Mundy, who preceded him in death. Hopkins was a native of Kent, New York.[2]
